Six Heritage High School runners achieved personal records at the cross-country sectional meet at Foxhall Resort in Douglasville on October 31.
The runners, coached by Danielle Beneby, recorded these 5K times:
- Abigail Flowers — 23:24
- Solomon Gunnison — 19:02
- Kaden Lewis — 20:27
- Jamir Nelson — 18:48
- Devin Rodgers — 18:32
- Marcus Russell — 18:45
Beyond the current season, local athletes have hopes of continuing their sports in college. Their aspirations include Clemson, LSU and the University of Georgia.
The level of sportsmanship in Rockdale County never disappoints. After the cross-country sectional, and before going home for well-earned rest, one runner stopped at Rockdale Gymnastics to cheer on friends and encourage their successes as well.
